　　Confirm /kənˈfɜ:m/

　　v. 证实；（法）确认，批准；使有效

　　It means to state or show that sth. is definitely true or correct, especially by providing evidence; or to make sb. feel or believe sth. even more strongly; or to make a position or an agreement more definite or official or to establish sb./sth. firmly.

　　它指的是通过提供证据证明或表明某事物（绝对）正确；或指使某人更加强烈地感觉到或相信某事；或指的是使职位、协议等更加明确或正式、或使某人/某事物稳固。

　　His guilty face confirmed our suspicions.

　　他内疚的表情证实了我们的猜测。

　　It has confirmed me in my decision to be a scientist.

　　这是我更加坚定了做一名科学家的决心。

　　After the probationary period, his position was confirmed.

　　It means to to behave and think in the same way as most other people in a group or society; or to obey a rule, law, etc; or to agree with or match sth.

　　Tom refused to conform to local customs.
